Closing date: December 13, 2021
Conference Registration Opens for Presenters: February 8, 2022
Conference Registration Opens for Non-Presenting Participants: August 20, 2022
Workshop: October 20-21, 2022 (rescheduled from April 2022 in order to accommodate an in person event)
We are excited to announce that abstract submissions are open for a new workshop titled “International Food Acquisition Research and Methods” (iFARM). The event will take place at the University of Maryland, College Park on October 20th and 21st, 2022.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from different disciplines to discuss advancements in methods for collecting and processing food data. The workshop will consist of keynotes, presentations of research work, and roundtable discussions. We are currently planning for an in-person event, but we will shift to a virtual format if needed.
We encourage contributions that focus on collecting food acquisition and purchase data. We are also open to contributions that focus on collecting other types of food data or on improving methods which may not have been used to collect food data but could be applied for that purpose.
We invite abstracts for the following formats:
- Contributed Talks: Present on research work (12-15 minutes). We encourage submission of work in progress, completed projects which have possibly already been published, and “lessons learned” to benefit other researchers.
- Roundtable Discussions: Facilitate a small-group discussion on a topic of interest (60 minutes).
In the proposal submission form, please include the session type, title, author name, affiliation, and contact information, and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Abstracts for presentations should state concisely the methods and (preliminary) results of the paper. Abstracts for roundtable discussions should describe the topic of interest and potential issues for discussion. Limited funds to reduce travel costs are available. Please indicate whether you would like to request travel funding in your abstract submission.
Abstract submission and further information is available at: https://socialdatascience.umd.edu/ifarm
The deadline for abstract submission is now December 13, 2021.
Selected abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper to a special issue on this topic in the journal Survey Methods: Insights from the Field (https://surveyinsights.org).
The workshop itself will be free of charge for participants. A dinner will be hosted after the first day of the workshop. The workshop will also be open to a small number of people who are not presenting a paper or facilitating a roundtable discussion. Registration for non-presenting participants will open on August 20, 2022, and seats will be assigned based on a first-come-first-served basis.
